Well known as "hill country", you will find some very challenging and fun holes in Tennessee. One of my favorite is hole #4 at Paris Landing State Park, it's only a par 3, but the elevation drops quite a bit and if you overshoot, your in the lake. There are a number of state parks with golf courses, privately owned public courses and privately owned membership courses in Middle Tennessee. There are several associations and clubs supporting this fine sport. Driving ranges, putting courses and trainers are readily available for improving your game. Enjoy a game of golf at over 35 courses!

Where to Golf in Middle Tennessee

Golf can be more of mind game than anything else. Your brain and body can handle the mechanics of the shot, but the mind is where the true challenge lies. Emotional control is "key" to this game. Ever notice when you're having a bad day in general, your game turns out the same way and when your having a great day, your game is top notch? Being able to block out the everyday stress of life can improve your shot tremendously. Sort of like the movie Happy Gilmore, shake off the negative vibes and go to your "happy place". That's where the great shot is. If you don't have a happy place, get one. They're Free!

Golf & Conservation

Golfers know the importance of fresh air and a clean environment. Golf is a very earth friendly sport. Golfers help with conservation by walking the course instead of driving, using electric carts instead of gas powered carts, encouraging the golf course management & pro shops to recycle, encouraging the use of non-toxic green & fairway fertilizers, protecting the wildlife habitats on & around the golf course and practicing the 3 R's (reduce, re-use & recycle). Imagine, it's a cool autum morning, business is good, the family is happy and you're on hole three at Hermitage Golfcourse. It's early on a clear day, you've got new spikes in your golf shoes, and as you approach the tee, you take a moment to watch three deer at the edge of the woods, just to the right of the green your aiming for. You set your tee, place your ball and as you step back to take a practice swing, you notice a Red-tailed Hawk fly over, calling in a high pitch to its mate. You step up to the tee, set your left foot, then your right, take one last look at the green, look down and send your golf ball towards the flag. The ball lands thirty yards in front of the green and takes a favorable bounce, rolling right up on the green to within eight feet of the hole. A chance for another eagle, it's going to be a good day!
