Picnic can be defined simply as an outdoor excursion at which a meal is eaten. But it is much more. A picnic is like a massage for the soul, it allows you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the work week, get reconnected with nature and savor time spent with loved ones and friends. Usually taking place in a beautiful setting, picnics are often an intimate occasion between two people or a family-oriented event. They can also be a large get-together such as a company or church picnic. Either way, nothing beats a good old fashion TN picnic! And Tennesseans have been blessed with thousands of picnic locations. When's the last time you went for a picnic? I think Jack Handy once said "Everything tastes better at a picnic... the ants, the sand, everything."

Those that enjoy a good picnic, already appreciate the great outdoors and know the importance of a clean environment and clean fresh air! Picnicking  has been around since man began. Picnic goers today can help with conservation by using re-usable utensils, plates, cups, containers and cloth. Cut back or do away with the plastic and styrofoam whenever possible.
